We almost have flying cars
My friend Jolie O’Dell was recently fired over some nonsense at an ad agency for a paper titled Why We Don’t Have Flying Cars which was about adopting new media and wasn’t exactly taken very well. Obviously.
So now she’s doing freelance stuff and working her way into internet stardom, I’m sure.
but yeah, baaaaack to the flying cars!
ESA scientists are currently testing intermetallic materials, combinations of metal similar to alloys in which two or more metals are diffused together on a molecular level. Titanium aluminide is an intermetal that could cut the weight of fan blades in jet engines by half. Unfortunately, titanium aluminide tends to fail under high temperatures.
